Photo mode saves a RAW DNG and a HEIC picture

Can I take RAW photos with it, or does it only record video?

Log Cam: RAW 4K Video Camera records log video, and Photo mode also takes photographs. One press saves two files: a DNG with the sensor’s RAW data for editing, and a HEIC picture you can view and share. Choose the iPhone or an external drive as their destination, then review both in the gallery.

RAW DNG for editing, HEIC for sharing

The DNG holds the sensor’s RAW data. You can adjust exposure and white balance later in a photo editor. The HEIC picture is ready to view and share.

You can view or send the HEIC picture without opening the DNG. Both files come from the same press and exposure. Share the HEIC picture and keep the DNG for editing.

Where photographs go

The gallery shows photographs beside your clips, including files on the connected drive you select. Share sends both files, HEIC first and DNG second. You can save new photographs directly to that drive too.

LUT preview and baking in Photo mode

The look setting you use for video also applies to photographs. Import your own .cube LUT and choose how it is used. Monitoring shows the LUT on screen without changing the saved files. Baked applies the LUT to the HEIC picture; the DNG stays RAW.

You cannot undo a bake. It changes the HEIC picture, not the DNG. Share the finished picture and keep the RAW data for later editing.

Photo mode availability

Photo mode is available when the selected camera and lens support RAW photographs. The app checks the active lens and returns to Video if RAW capture is unavailable, with a message naming that lens.

Switching between Photo and Video

Choose Photo or Video before you start. The mode stays fixed while a clip records or a photograph saves.
