What exposure and focus controls does it have?

Log Cam: RAW 4K Video Camera lets you set ISO, shutter and white balance by hand. For focus, it offers autofocus and tap to focus. You can pick which of your phone’s lenses records. Turn on Adjust while recording to change focus, ISO and shutter during a take. The setting is off by default.

Manual exposure in changing light

Manual exposure helps when the scene misleads the meter. With a person in front of a window, automatic exposure may favor the bright background. It can also shift during a take as you move between light and shade. Set ISO and shutter yourself to hold the exposure you chose for the subject.

Shutter also sets motion blur. At 30 fps, a shutter time near 1/60 second follows the common 180° convention and gives familiar motion blur. A shorter exposure makes movement look crisper.

White balance

Automatic white balance can change the color during a take, such as when you pan from daylight to a lamp. A fixed Kelvin value keeps the color consistent. Set it before recording, because white balance cannot be adjusted during a take.

Autofocus and tap to focus

Autofocus changes focus distance as you or your subject moves. It is useful for handheld shots where you cannot keep a fixed distance from the subject.

Tap to focus lets you select a subject when autofocus picks another part of the scene, such as a doorway behind a person.

Lens selection

Lens selection picks which physical lens on the iPhone records. Each lens sees a different amount of the room, so the choice sets how much of the scene is in the shot and how close you stand to your subject. Which lenses you have depends on the phone.
